Lao government reviews progress in war on drugs

VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – The government is working to tackle the nationwide drug problem by partnering with neighbouring countries, and police have seized sizeable quantities of amphetamine, heroin and crystal methamphetamine.

The current situation was reported on at a meeting held on Tuesday to review the progress made in drug control. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Public Security and Commissioner for Drug Control and Supervision, Major General Dr Somvang Thammasith, and 50 police and other officials.
